Carnival Cruise Lines partners with artist Taylor Smith to create and install custom original craft cocktail theme chemical and molecular paintings for their Alchemy Lounges across the worldwide fleet
When the design team at Carnival Cruise Lines initially contacted the studio, they had previously seen Taylor Smith's chemical still life paintings and had a vision. Carnival was redesigning their high-end Alchemy Lounge concept across many ships. They wanted to enhance the craft cocktail vibe within the lounges with tasteful, original custom artwork.
Working with Taylor, the Carnival design team in Miami relayed their vision and requirements and also involved MJM Group, a leading marine refurbishment and interior fit specialist, based in Northern Ireland to assist Taylor with the initial project. Taylor designed insightful, underlying themes to incorporate into the art, including the strong graphic lines and designs of nautical flags which can be seen in the lines and patterns of the different works. The cocktail and wine motifs are also added to tie in with the design team's craft cocktail and lounge theme.
After the much anticipated project success of the Carnival Pride ship in dry dock, the design team moved forward with additional artwork for the worldwide fleet including the installation of Taylor Smith chemical paintings on the ships Miracle, Spirit, Imagination, Inspiration, Ecstasy and Sensation to date.
In 2014 the Carnival Cruise Lines corporate design team chose Taylor Smith as the exclusive artist partner to design and install original chemical theme artworks for Carnival Alchemy Lounge areas across the worldwide fleet.
